Mt. Hobs
Board the hovercraft from Kaipo. Cross the first set of shallow rocks to reach the Damcyan area, then continue northeast past Antlion Cave and over a second set of shallow rocks to reach the mountain range. 5 chests, 8 new bestiary entries, and Yang joining at the summit.
Mt. Hobs
New Enemies
Five chests and six mob enemies across the climb, with a phase-shift boss at the summit and Bloodbones on the east side after the fight. If you equipped Rosa with the Holy Arrow from Damcyan’s jail, her Aim command lands extra damage on Skeleton, Spirit, Bloodbones (all weak to Holy) and Cockatrice (weak to Projectile). Three to handle carefully:
- Cockatrice: petrification on hit. Stack Gold Needles before the climb
- Skeleton: weak to Fire and Holy
- Spirit: absorbs Fire (Fire heals it), weak to Holy only
West Entrance
Walk north from the start to trigger a cutscene. Ice blocks the path, and Rydia hesitates to cast Fire after what happened at Mist. She pushes past it, melts the ice, and learns Fire. Continue north to a fork: the west door leads to the Trail and its chests; the east door leads to the Summit and the boss.
Trail
Take the west door first. Follow the linear path to the end where four chests sit together: Tent, Potion, Gold Needle, and 960 Gil. A save point sits next to the chests. Save here, then backtrack to the fork.
Summit
Take the east door and follow the path east. Grab the Holy Arrow from the chest along the way. That’s all 5 chests for this dungeon.
Heal and quick save before climbing the final set of stairs. A cutscene plays at the top, then the boss begins.
How to Beat Mom Bomb
Yang joins the party permanently after the battle. He’s a Monk with Kick (multi-target attack) and Focus (charges energy for double damage next turn). Put him in the front row with Cecil. The Town of Baron shop sells Fire Claw, Ice Claw, and Thunder Claw for Yang if you backtrack.
East Entrance
Go through the north door past the summit to the East Entrance and follow the linear path down the mountain.
New Enemies
Bloodbones (210 HP, weak to Fire and Holy) appears here but is uncommon. If it doesn’t show up by the time you reach the exit, skip the hunt; Mt. Ordeals Entrance in a later chapter has it far more often.
The exit drops you on the overworld east of the mountain. Fabul is to the northeast.
