Chest listChests
Six floors, six chests of strong equipment, and eleven new bestiary entries that vanish forever once you clear the tower. Hell Turtle only spawns on 1F, Purple Bavarois resists physical damage almost entirely (use Fire), and Gremlin appears more often on 2F. Take your time and make sure every entry registers before pushing to the boss.
Tower of Zot
1F. Follow the northwest path to find a chest at the top: Flame Mail (157/342). Equip it on Cecil for fire resistance (you'll appreciate it later). Head east and go through the door. But make sure you've fought a Hell Turtle before leaving this floor; they don't appear higher up. And Purple Bavarois is immune to physicals, so use Fire spells exclusively against them.
2F. Head south to a split, then east until hitting the wall. Go south to the bottom wall, then east to another split. Go north and open the chest for a monster-in-a-box fight against a single Fiery Hound. Easy kill. Reward: Flame Sword (158/342). Equip it on Cecil. Go through the western door.
3F-4F. On 3F, head south then northeast and follow the winding path to the next door. On 4F, go south, east to a split, then north to reach three doors. Each one leads to a 5F room with a chest.
5F (west door). Open the chest nearby for Hell Claw (159/342). Head south through the path and grab the Flame Shield at the bottom (160/342). Return to 4F.
5F (middle door). Open the chest for Gaia Hammer (161/342). Cid's best weapon. Exit to 4F.
5F (east door). Open the chest for Sage's Surplice (162/342). That's 6/6 chests. Exit to 4F.
Back on 4F, head south to the split, south again to the bottom wall, then east and follow the linear path to the door. On 5F, go south and enter the bottom room for a save point. Verify you have all 11 bestiary entries before proceeding. Once confirmed, head west and approach the door.
How to beat Magus Sisters
The Magus Sisters are Mindy (2,591 HP), Cindy (4,599 HP), and Sandy (2,590 HP). Kill Cindy first. She revives her sisters, so leaving her alive turns this into an endless fight. Have Cecil and Yang focus Cindy while Tellah casts Bio on Mindy or Sandy for massive damage. Cid attacks whoever is lowest. The fight is straightforward once Cindy goes down.
Heal at the save point and save again before entering the central door. On 6F, head north for a cutscene and a scripted battle against Golbez. You don't control this fight; just watch the events. After the scene, talk to Kain. Rosa and Kain rejoin the party. Equip them both, heal up, and quick save. Try to go down the stairs.
How to beat Barbariccia
Barbariccia has 8,636 HP and is the third of the Four Fiends. She wraps herself in a tornado guard that reduces all damage. Kain's Jump is the only attack that breaks it, so have him Jump every single turn. Cecil, Yang, and Cid attack normally during the vulnerable phase. Rosa heals and casts Esuna when Barbariccia inflicts Gradual Petrification, which she does frequently.
Rosa teleports the party out, and the tower is gone for good. You end up back at Castle Baron with the Magma Rock.
To the underworld
Leave Castle Baron and board the airship. Fly south to Agart, the small town between the southern continents. Head inside, go up the staircase, and interact with the well. Use the Magma Rock to open a passage to the underworld. Exit town, board the airship, and fly into the crater in the mountains just above Agart.
