The first true sequel, Final Fantasy 2 introduced use-based stat growth. Firion, Maria, and Guy join Princess Hilda's rebellion in Altair after the Empire occupies their hometown of Fynn. Every chest, missable, and Key Term keyword tracked through to the end.

Final Fantasy 3 introduced the 22-job system that came to define the series. Four orphans chosen by the Wind Crystal set out to restore balance between light and dark across a floating continent. Every chest, job unlock, and missable tracked through to the endgame.

Final Fantasy 4 brought the Active Time Battle system to the series, built around Cecil Harvey, a Dark Knight in the service of Baron whose loyalty is tested when the kingdom turns on its neighbours. Every chest, every boss with full AI rotations, and the Pink Tail farm are tracked through to the credits.

Pixel Remaster

Final Fantasy 5 reworked the Job system from FF3 into a 22-job freeform builder where any party member can carry abilities between jobs. The story opens with the wind stopping across Bartz's homeland. Authored live as we play; the full 302-entry bestiary and 29-spell Blue Magic database are already complete.
