PSN trophies. Boost settings (4x EXP, 4x Gil, encounters) don't void any of them.

Most trophies pop during a normal playthrough. The only two that take real effort: the level 50 grind and hunting Warmech for the bestiary.

Roadmap

Step 1: Normal playthrough. Most trophies unlock without trying. Don't skip fights and open every chest along the way.

  • Visit both optional dungeons: Citadel of Trials and Dragon Caves (needed for class upgrades)
  • Grab the Adamantite in the Flying Fortress, bring it to Smyth in Crescent Lake for Excalibur
  • No missable trophies. Every location stays open, every chest stays put
  • Kill counts, Gil, and bestiary percentage all climb on their own

Step 2: Post-game cleanup. Two trophies usually remain after the credits.

  • Level 50 grind: best spot is Chaos Shrine 2000 years ago with 4x EXP on, auto-battle with Square
  • Warmech for 100% bestiary: rare spawn on the Flying Fortress 5F bridge, just run back and forth

Story Trophies

Unmissable. One for each Fiend boss, one for beating Chaos. See the walkthrough for the full route.

Excalibur (Sword of Myth)

The Adamantite is on the 5th floor of the Flying Fortress, in a chest near Tiamat's room. Grab it before you leave. Fly to Crescent Lake and find Smyth, the dwarven blacksmith in a house on the east side of town. Hand over the Adamantite and he forges Excalibur. Trophy pops on the spot. Get this done before Chaos Shrine. No reason to wait.

Class Upgrades (Token of Courage)

Head to the Citadel of Trials (you need the Airship; it's on the continent northwest of the Cardia Islands). Fight through the dungeon and grab the Rat's Tail from the chest at the top. Bring it to Bahamut in the Dragon Caves and he upgrades all 4 party members at once. Warrior becomes Knight, Thief becomes Ninja, and so on:

  • Warrior → Knight
  • Thief → Ninja
  • Monk → Master
  • Red Mage → Red Wizard
  • White Mage → White Wizard
  • Black Mage → Black Wizard

Adventurous Wayfarer. 27 locations total: 25 you'll hit through the story, plus 2 optional (Citadel of Trials and Dragon Caves). Do the class upgrade quest and you'll cover both. The trophy usually pops when you enter the Flying Fortress since that's the last story location. Already cleared Citadel and Dragon Caves? It triggers the moment you step inside.

How to Play the 15 Puzzle Minigame

The Hidden Game trophy requires playing the 15 Puzzle, a sliding number puzzle hidden on your ship. Matoya's brooms hint at this secret by speaking backwards. Once you get the ship from Bikke in Pravoka, you can access it anytime while sailing.

How to open the 15 Puzzle:

  • PlayStation: Hold X and tap Circle repeatedly
  • Xbox: Hold A and tap B repeatedly
  • Switch: Hold A and tap B repeatedly
  • PC (Keyboard): Hold Enter and tap Backspace repeatedly
  • Mobile: Hold one finger on the ship and tap the screen with another finger

Starting a round is enough. You don't need to solve it. The Pixel Remaster version doesn't award Gil or items like older releases did. Want to finish it anyway? Work from the top row down; once a row's solved, those numbers lock in place and you've got a smaller grid to work with.

Combat Trophies

Kill counts come naturally. Don't avoid fights and you'll hit 500 well before the final dungeon. The real grind is Seasoned Hero: all 4 party members need to reach level 50. That almost certainly won't happen during normal play. Best spot? Chaos Shrine 2000 years ago. Turn on 4x EXP, hold Square to auto-battle, and let it run. Past level 40 the enemies there give solid EXP and can't really hurt you.

Bestiary Trophies

128 entries total. Check your progress under Config → Bestiary. Most fill in naturally, but a few enemies only spawn in specific dungeons or areas you might blow through. The one that causes problems: Warmech.

Warmech is a rare spawn on the Flying Fortress 5F bridge, the long straight corridor before Tiamat. Spawn rate's low (roughly 1 in 64 encounters on that tile). Run back and forth across the bridge until it shows up. Leave 4x EXP on while you hunt; free levels. At 70+ you'll kill it in a few hits. Annoying grind, but it's the only entry most players actually miss.

SilverField Research - Advanced50% bestiary (64 enemies)
GoldField Research - Professional100% bestiary (128 enemies) — Warmech is hardest to find

Treasure Trophies

249 chests (see chest guides for locations). Nothing's missable, so you can always backtrack for anything you skipped. Some need the Mystic Key (from the Elfheim chapter), and a few trigger monster-in-a-box fights that won't cause problems past midgame. Track what you've opened by pressing Square on the map, then Triangle to toggle chest markers. L2 + Circle highlights remaining chests on the minimap.

Gil Trophies

These track total Gil earned, not your current balance. Spend freely. You'll clear 100,000 before the endgame from fights and loot alone; 4x Gil makes it even faster. Don't overthink these.
