PSN trophies. Boost settings (4x EXP, 4x Gil, encounters) don't void any of them.
30 trophies total, and only 2 are missable. Both relate to temporary dungeons: Tower of Zot, Tower of Babel (multiple visits with unique content each time), and Giant of Babel. Miss a chest or bestiary entry inside and it's gone for good. The rest of the game stays open after you beat the final boss; you'll reload outside the last dungeon for cleanup.
Overview
Step 1: Normal playthrough. Follow the walkthrough and don't skip encounters. Most trophies pop on their own.
- Open every chest in the Tower of Zot, Tower of Babel, and Giant of Babel before triggering their boss events
- Fight every enemy type in temporary dungeons. The Tower of Babel has unique enemies on each visit
- Grab the Rat Tail from the Land of Summons for Excalibur
- Visit optional locations (Chocobo Forests, Mythril, Tomra, etc.) as they become available
Step 2: Post-game cleanup. After the credits, reload your save to appear outside the Lunar Subterrane. Several trophies usually remain:
- Seasoned Hero: grind all 5 party members to level 70. Farm Zemus' Breath on Lunar Subterrane B11 with Sirens and auto-battle
- Summon Collector: farm the 4 secret summon drops (Goblin, Cockatrice, Mind Flayer, Bomb)
- Tail of Myth: farm Flan Princess on Lunar Subterrane B5 for the Pink Tail, then trade it at Adamant Grotto
- Gil: 500,000 cumulative. Flan Princess grinding covers this on its own (277,775 gil per Siren encounter)

Excalibur (Sword of Myth)
Pick up the Rat Tail from the Land of Summons (northwest of the Sealed Cavern in the Underworld). After getting the airship drill and returning to the Overworld, fly to the Eblan area and grab your old airship. Take the Hovercraft to Adamant Grotto near Mythril and trade the Rat Tail for Adamantite. Then head back to the Underworld and visit Kokkol's Smithy in the southeast corner. Hand over the Adamantite and progress the story by speaking to the Mysidia elder. Return to Kokkol's Smithy afterward and Excalibur is ready.
If you're doing this later in the game, fly to the Moon and back with the Lunar Whale to advance time.
Sealed Weapons (Power Unleashed)
Four sealed weapons are scattered through the Lunar Subterrane, each guarded by a boss. Grab all four before fighting Zeromus; they're the best weapons for Cecil, Kain, and Edge.
- Murasame (B3): White Dragon guards it. Cast Float before opening the chest. The boss counters every hit with Slow, so have Rosa cast Haste between heals
- Ragnarok (B5): Dark Bahamut opens with Mega Flare for massive damage. Don't summon Bahamut here or you'll eat another one as a counter. Use Bio or bounce Flare off a Reflected party member
- Holy Lance (B7): Plague is a timed fight. Blast it with everything you've got before the countdown expires. Bahamut summon, Holy from Rosa, Jump from Kain
- Masamune (B8): Ogopogo opens by halving everyone's HP. Heal up with Rosa, then attack normally. Bahamut summon gets countered with Blaze, but Curaja handles it
Summons (Summon Master)
Five non-secret summons become available in the second half of the game. None are missable, but Sylph has an early route and a late route depending on your story progress.
- Asura: Land of Summons. Cast Reflect on her so her self-healing bounces to your party instead
- Leviathan: Land of Summons. Beat Asura first. Straightforward fight; Rosa can out-heal Tidal Wave
- Sylph: Visit the Sylvan Cottage in the Underworld and speak to everyone (including the sleeping person). After getting the airship drill, grab Yang's Frying Pan from his wife in Fabul Castle, then return to wake Yang. You get Sylph and can trade the Frying Pan back for the Knife
- Bahamut: Cave of Bahamut on the Moon. Cast Reflect on everyone and use Flare, Leviathan summon, and physical attacks
- Odin: Castle Baron East Tower basement. Timed battle; hit hard and fast. Wait until after you have Bahamut so Rydia can summon it
Secret Summons (Summon Collector)
Four secret summons drop as items from specific enemy variants. Buy Sirens from Hummingway Home on the Moon to guarantee encounters (except Bomb). Use the item from the menu after obtaining it so Rydia learns the spell.
- Goblin: Use Sirens in the Baron area of the Overworld. Spawns Goblin x6 every time
- Cockatrice: Use Sirens in the Mysidia area of the Overworld. Spawns Cockatrice x3
- Mind Flayer: Use Sirens at the start of Magnetic Cavern (fly there with a Black Chocobo from the Chocobo Village north of Troia). Spawns Mind Flayer x2
- Bomb: Western Lunar Path on the Moon. Sirens don't work here. Run from encounters that aren't Dark Grenade or Balloon groups; both enemies can drop it
Speed things up by putting Siren at the top of your item list (Items → Sort → Custom) and setting Battle Speed and Messages to Very Fast with Continue Auto-Battle on.
Pink Tail (Tail of Myth)
The Flan Princess spawns in a small room on Lunar Subterrane B5, near the stairs to B6. Use a Siren to guarantee the encounter. Equip Cecil with Crystal Mail and give Rydia and Rosa Ribbons to block the Berserk status the Flan Princesses love to cast. Set Rosa to heal (Curaga or Pray) and Rydia to Bahamut, then auto-battle.
Drop rate is low, so this is a grind. Each Siren encounter rewards 277,775 gil, more than enough to restock. When the Pink Tail finally drops, take it to Adamant Grotto on the Overworld (Hovercraft required, southeast of Mythril) and trade it for the Adamant Armor.
Hidden Items (Item Detector)
54 hidden items total, none missable. They show up as red exclamation marks when you walk over them. Check your progress through the map menu (Square on the Overworld, Square then Triangle in towns). Three items in the Land of Summons and Sylvan Cottage only appear after clearing the Giant of Babel. Towns and castles hold the bulk of them; dungeons have none.
All Locations (Adventurous Wayfarer)
48 locations across the Overworld, Underworld, and Moon. Most are visited through the story, but several optional areas are easy to miss: all 5 Chocobo Forests, Mythril, Eblan Castle, the town of Troia, Tomra, Sylvan Cave, Kokkol's Smithy, Adamant Grotto, Cave of Bahamut, and Hummingway Home. You only need to step inside each location to register it.
Combat Trophies
Kill counts track total monsters defeated, not battles won. With encounters averaging 3-5 enemies per fight, the 1,000 kill trophy should pop around three-quarters through the game. Don't flee from fights and you'll be fine. The level 70 grind is the real post-game commitment; Zemus' Breath on Lunar Subterrane B11 gives 8,400 EXP per character and barely fights back. Use Sirens to spawn them, set everyone to Attack, and let auto-battle handle the rest. With 4x EXP, it goes fast.
| Type | Trophy | How to Unlock |
|---|---|---|
| Apprentice Warrior | Defeat 100 monsters | |
| Experienced Warrior | Defeat 500 monsters | |
| Legendary Warrior | Defeat 1,000 monsters. Should come naturally by endgame | |
| Seasoned Hero | Reach level 70 with all 5 party members. Farm Zemus' Breath on Lunar Subterrane B11 |
Bestiary Trophies (197 Enemies)
Check progress under Config → Bestiary. Most entries fill in naturally, but four temporary dungeons have unique enemies that can't be found anywhere else.
A few other entries need attention. The Baron General (#021) should be defeated before the Baron Soldiers in the Kaipo inn event, and the Captain (#036) before the Baron Warriors at Fabul. Entry #176 Barnabas-Z only spawns if you defeat Barnabas (#174) first and spare Doctor (#173) in the Tower of Babel boss fight. And Calcobrena (#171) only appears if you defeat all three Calco dolls and one Brina before any other combination.
| Type | Trophy | How to Unlock |
|---|---|---|
| Field Research - Basic | Complete 10% of the bestiary (20 enemies) | |
| Field Research - Advanced | Complete 50% of the bestiary (99 enemies) | |
| Field Research - Professional | MISSABLE. Complete 100% of bestiary (all 197 enemies). Temporary dungeons have unique entries |
Treasure Trophies (342 Chests)
Track your progress through the map menu (Square on the Overworld, Square then Triangle in dungeons). Most areas stay open for the entire game, but the temporary dungeons contain chests you can never return for.
Some locations like Castle Baron and Troia Castle require multiple visits to fully clear. Castle Baron opens up further on your second visit; Troia Castle unlocks additional rooms later in the story.
| Type | Trophy | How to Unlock |
|---|---|---|
| Rookie Treasure Hunter | Open 10% of chests (35 chests) | |
| Veteran Treasure Hunter | Open 50% of chests (171 chests) | |
| Legendary Treasure Hunter | MISSABLE. Open 100% of chests (all 342). Tower of Zot, Tower of Babel, and Giant of Babel chests are temporary |
Gil Trophies
Cumulative, not current balance. Spend freely on gear and items throughout the game. If you're grinding Flan Princess for the Pink Tail, the 277,775 gil per Siren encounter will push you well past 500,000 without even trying. The 4x Gil boost stacks with this if you want it done even faster.
| Type | Trophy | How to Unlock |
|---|---|---|
| Thrifty Spender | Earn 10,000 gil (cumulative) | |
| Smart Saver | Earn 100,000 gil (cumulative) | |
| Moneybags | Earn 500,000 gil (cumulative). Flan Princess grinding covers this easily |
Platinum
Master of IV pops once every other trophy is earned. The last one standing is usually Tail of Myth, Summon Collector, or Seasoned Hero. All three involve post-game grinding on the Lunar Subterrane, so plan your farming route accordingly.
