Return to the Dwarven Castle and head to the throne room. King Giott hands you Luca's Necklace, needed for the Sealed Cavern later. Then visit the infirmary (south to 1F, west stairs to inn, northeast stairs to B1, nearby door). A cutscene upgrades the airship to fly over lava. The entire underworld is now accessible.
Tomra
Fly southwest over the lava to find a small town. Tomra has the best equipment available in the underworld; the Diamond set is a major defensive leap. Diamond Shield (15,000 Gil), Diamond Helm (10,000 Gil), Diamond Armor (40,000 Gil), and Diamond Gloves (5,000 Gil) are solid upgrades for Cecil and Kain. Gold Hairpin (20,000 Gil) boosts Intellect by 10 for Rydia (a bigger deal than it sounds). But Diamond Armlets (4,000 Gil) work for everyone and should be your first purchase if Gil is tight.
All the loot is in the northwest house. Four chests hold Bomb Fragment, Zeus's Wrath, Dry Ether, and 2,000 Gil (219-222/342). Two pots contain Antarctic Wind (47/54) and Bestiary (48/54). That's everything for Tomra.
Cave of Summons
Fly northwest over the lava to a small island with a cave. The floors are lava, so cast Float on the entire party before stepping anywhere (Rosa → White Magic → Float → press Left to target all → confirm). You'll need to recast Float on every floor change.
B1. Head northeast and open the chest for a Phoenix Down (223/342). Go west and push left into a secret passage. Follow the path to an Ether (224/342). Return to the northeast chest and head south for a Hi-Potion (225/342). Go west, north, west again, and take the stairs down.
B2. Recast Float. Head southeast for a Hi-Potion (226/342). Go west, then north, and follow the path northwest for a Cottage (227/342). Head south to the split, east, and follow the path to the stairs down.
B3. Recast Float. Follow the linear path south for a Phoenix Down (228/342). Head east past the split for a Bestiary (229/342). From that chest, push right against the east wall to find a secret passage. Follow it east, south, west, then north and enter through the left side. Three chests inside: Hi-Potion, Poison Axe, and Kikuichimonji (230-232/342). Return through the passage without exiting, continue north to another exit, and follow the path to a chest. Heal up and quick save first. Opening it triggers a monster-in-a-box: 5 Warriors. Reward: Defender (233/342). That's 11/11 chests.
Backtrack to the split between the two B3 chests and head north to the warp pad.
Land of Summons
Head northwest from the warp pad and open the chest for an Ether (234/342). Continue north for a Bestiary (235/342). Go clockwise to the east side for 5,000 Gil (236/342), then south for 6,000 Gil (237/342). From that chest, head north and step on the shadowed tile to teleport to a secret room. Four chests: Yoichi's Bow, Dry Ether, Yoichi Arrow, and Elixir (238-241/342). Exit the secret room.
The Rat Tail chest is behind the northern warp pad. Step on the pad, then immediately step on it again at the new location. Walk south to reach the previously inaccessible chest: Rat Tail (242/342). Hang onto this; you'll trade it for Adamantite later. Step on the pad again.
Enter the northwest house and grab both chests: Bestiary and Phoenix Down (243-244/342). That's 11/11 chests for the Land of Summons. The shops here sell Kotetsu (11,000 Gil) for Edge, Blitz Whip (10,000 Gil) for Rydia, and Kinesis Staff (7,000 Gil) for Rosa if you want upgrades. The Aegis Shield (20,000 Gil) and Light Robe (30,000 Gil) are also available.
Head to the library (building with a Chocobo outside), take the stairs down, and step on the warp pad to reach the throne room.
How to beat Asura
Asura has 31,005 HP and casts Protect, Curaga, and Life on herself throughout the fight. The trick is casting Reflect on Asura at the start, which bounces all her healing spells onto your party instead. After that, summon Titan with Rydia and attack with everyone else. Rosa needs to cast Curaja on the party every turn since Asura counters all damage with strong physical hits.
Rydia learns the Asura summon. Heal up and quick save, then speak to the old man nearby and select Yes.
How to beat Leviathan
Leviathan has 50,001 HP and is weak to Lightning. He opens with Tidal Wave, dealing 100-600 damage to the entire party. Have Rosa heal immediately. Then settle into a rhythm: Bio with Rydia, Jump with Kain, Attack with Cecil and Edge, Blitz with Edge's Ninjutsu, and Curaja with Rosa every turn. The fight takes a while at 50k HP but there's no trick to it. Just keep the party healthy and chip away.
Rydia learns the Leviathan summon, which is extremely powerful and can one-shot most enemy groups going forward. The Land of Summons has 2 hidden items in the shops, but they're not available until much later in the game. Make your way back to the underworld.
