Twenty chests across the cave and the path beyond, plus a settlement with shops and 2 hidden items halfway through. The cave itself is short, but the Path to the Tower of Babel is packed with fake walls hiding treasure. Edge joins the party near the end.

Cave of Eblan

B1. From the entrance, head east through a fake wall and open the chest for a Shuriken (191/342). Continue east through another fake wall for a Remedy (192/342). Go back to the first chest and take the stairs down to the water. Head east, south past the stream, then up the stairs and all the way south for a Vampire Fang (193/342). Go north a bit, west across the bridge, south across another bridge, then continue west and take the stairs down.

The south exit doesn't lead to B2 as you'd expect. Instead you end up in the Eblan Settlement.

Eblan Settlement

No random encounters in here. Rest at the inn (700 Gil) and restock at the shops. The weapon shop sells Kunai (4,000 Gil) for Edge when he joins shortly, plus Icebrand (26,000 Gil) and Ice Lance (21,000 Gil) if you skipped the Tower of Babel monster chests. The armor shop has Black Robe (10,000 Gil) for Rydia and Ice Shield/Armor if you need them.

Head west and enter the leftmost room. Search the pot by the entrance for a Potion (45/54). Go to the west end and check the second pot from top to bottom for another Potion (46/54). That's 2/2 hidden items. Exit the room and head north through the stairs to continue.

Path to the Tower of Babel

Back in the dungeon. This section is full of hidden passages, so follow the directions carefully. Open the chest by the entrance for an Ether (194/342). Head north and grab the Tent by the stairs (195/342). From that chest, walk to the fallen soldier and immediately push south to find a secret passage. Follow it to a Hi-Potion (196/342).

Return to the fallen soldier and head upstairs. Go northeast and up the small staircase. Open the reachable chest for a Bomb Core (197/342). Go south past three stones and push right to reveal a secret passage. Follow it for a Shuriken (198/342). Return to the main path and continue south through the stairs.

You're on the same screen but a different area. Stand one tile diagonally above the top rock and push east to find another secret passage. Follow it to an isolated area with two Elixirs (199-200/342). Backtrack to the entrance of this area and open three chests: Hi-Potion, Cottage, and Hi-Potion (201-203/342). Continue south then west for a Spider's Silk (204/342). Head east to find three chests packed together: Silver Hourglass, Phoenix Down, and Phoenix Down (205-207/342). Follow the path north and up the stairs.

Enter the room on the right. There's a save point and a chest behind a hidden passage (the passage entrance is above the four rocks on the right). Go northeast and push right to reveal it. The chest is a monster-in-a-box: two Steel Golems. Should be trivial at this point. Reward: Blood Sword (208/342). Exit the room.

Head west and up the stairs for a Gold Needle (209/342). Backtrack to the entrance and continue north along the east path to find two NPCs. Approach them for a cutscene. Edge joins the party; he's a Ninja with dual-wielding, the Throw command (consumes items for big damage), and Ninjutsu magic. And his stats are surprisingly solid for a character who just showed up. Equip him with the Kunai from the Eblan Settlement if you bought one.

After the scene, push left against the west wall to find a secret passage leading to a previously blocked chest: Dry Ether (210/342). That's 20/20 chests for this dungeon. Head north through the stairs to enter the Tower of Babel.
