Hidden itemsItems
Fly to the northwestern continent and look for a waterfall with a town nearby. Before landing at the town, disembark on the grasslands south of it and walk north to find a hidden Chocobo Forest near a bridge. Grab the Gysahl Greens inside (31/54), then fly back and land on the tiny grass patch by the town. Five new overworld bestiary entries roam the Troia area, so fight until all five register before heading in.
Troia
The shops here sell low-tier equipment, but you need two specific items: Great Bow (2,000 Gil) and Fire Arrows (500 Gil). Buy two of each for Cecil and Cid. The Magnetic Cavern ahead disables all metallic equipment, so bows and leather armor are your only option for most of the dungeon. Restock consumables while you're here.
Four hidden items sit in the northeast corner of town. Cross the bridge north, head east, and take the stairs down into the water. Follow the river all the way north to another set of stairs. Go up and through the secret passage to reach a girl standing near some grass. Search four spots: 1,000 Gil at the top (32/54), Decoy at the top-left (33/54), Ether at the bottom-left (34/54), and Dry Ether at the bottom-right (35/54). Leave town and enter Troia Castle next door.
Troia Castle
Head north through the main hall and into the castle. Go northeast and exit through the door, then south and through another door to reach a room with three staircases.
Middle stairway. Take it down to B1 and search the pot for Bacchus's Cider (36/54). Go back up.
Right stairway. Head down to B1. Step on the button in the center of the room to unlock the surrounding chests. Eight total, left to right: Tent, Tent, Hi-Potion, Hi-Potion, Ether, Ether, Ruby Ring, and Ruby Ring (121-128/342).
Return to the main hall and take the western door this time. Go south and through the door to reach the infirmary. Approach the bed for a cutscene with Edward. You'll receive the Twin Harp, a key item needed for the upcoming boss. Leave the castle.
Chocobo Village
Back on the overworld, head north through the woods until you reach a small forest area. This is the Chocobo Village, the last Chocobo-related location in the game. In the southeast, search the bushes for Gysahl Greens (37/54). Go north until you see a patch of grass on the ground, then push right against the trees to reveal a secret passage. Follow it east and search the two spots for two more Gysahl Greens (38/54). That's 3/3 items here.
Talk to the Black Chocobo. It flies over water but can't cross mountains; it can only land on forest tiles. Fly east following the river and through the mountains to find the Magnetic Cavern entrance. Land in the nearby forest but don't go in yet. Strip all metallic equipment first and swap to the non-metal setup.
Magnetic Cavern
Ten chests across four floors. Your damage output drops noticeably without metal weapons; lean on Tellah's spells and Yang's claws (the only party member unaffected by the magnetic field). Mind Flayer has a rare chance to drop the Hidden Summon: Mind Flayer item, but save that grind for later when you have Sirens. And don't forget to recast Float if you enter any lava areas.
B1. From the entrance, go east past the staircase and open the chest for a Hi-Potion (129/342). Head back and follow the path down. Grab the Unicorn Horn (130/342), then continue down the stairs.
B2. Go west, north at the split, then west again for an Ether (131/342). Backtrack to the split and go northeast across the bridge to a door. Two chests inside: 2,000 Gil and Ether (132-133/342). Exit the room, go west, and take the stairs down.
B3. Take the nearby door to find a save point. Continue south across the bridge and enter the bottom door. Three chests: Hi-Potion, Spider's Silk, and Hourglass (134-136/342). Exit and head west across another bridge, then north through the rock formation to a door. Inside: Fairy Claw (137/342). Equip it on Yang for a solid upgrade. Head west and take the stairs down.
B4. Follow the bridge west and continue north to a chest: Emergency Exit (138/342). That's 10/10 for the cavern. The door south of the bridge leads to the boss, but head east first for a save room. Heal up and save before going north through the door to the Crystal Room.
How to beat Dark Elf
The first encounter is unwinnable. The magnetic field disables your weapons and the party collapses. Let the scene play out. Edward wakes up in Troia and plays the Twin Harp, disrupting the field. Your metal equipment works again. Re-equip Cecil with the Sword of Legend and update everyone else's gear, then interact with the Dark Elf for round two.
Dark Elf has 23,890 HP and is weak to Holy. Cecil's Sword of Legend deals massive damage since it's Holy-elemental. Have everyone attack physically while Tellah heals and casts high-level spells. After losing most of its HP, the Dark Elf morphs into a Dark Dragon (3,927 HP) which is weaker than the first form. The Dragon is vulnerable to Holy weapons but absorbs Holy magic, so keep Tellah on non-Holy spells or healing. The fight ends quickly either way.
Grab the Earth Crystal after the fight. Use Cecil's Teleport spell or the Emergency Exit to leave the cavern. Interact with the Black Chocobo outside to fly back to the Chocobo Village, then walk to Troia Castle.
Troia Castle reward
Enter the castle and head north to the Clerics for a story cutscene. Afterward, go back to the east side of the castle and down the left stairway. Talk to the woman behind the bars and select Yes. She opens a path to a room with 18 chests. Top row, left to right: Hi-Potion, Remedy, Ether, Dry Ether, Elixir, Echo Herbs, Great Bow, Fire Arrow, and 5,000 Gil (139-147/342). Bottom row: Hi-Potion, Remedy, Ether, Dry Ether, Silver Apple, Echo Herbs, Ice Arrow, 50,000 Gil, and Thunder Arrow (148-156/342).
That's everything for Troia. Leave the castle and board the airship. The Tower of Zot is next.
