Take the hovercraft back to the Antlion Cave area and continue northeast past it toward the large mountain range. The cave entrance sits at the base. Mt. Hobs is a short dungeon with only 5 chests, and the boss has a phase transition that catches people off guard. Seven new bestiary entries spawn across the mountain, with one exclusive to the east side after the boss.
Mt. Hobs
If you equipped Rosa with the Holy Arrow from the Damcyan jail, her Aim command is extremely powerful against the undead enemies and the Cockatrice here.
West entrance. Head north from the start to trigger a cutscene. Ice blocks the path, and Rydia is scared to cast fire magic after what happened at Mist. She overcomes her fear and melts the ice. Rydia learns Fire. Continue north to a fork with two doors. The north entrance leads to the Trail; the other leads to the Summit and the boss.
Trail. Take the north door first. Follow the linear path all the way to the end where four chests sit together: Tent, Potion, Gold Needle, and 960 Gil (56-59/342). A save point is here too. Use it, then backtrack to the fork.
Summit. Take the other door and follow the path east. Grab the Holy Arrow from the chest along the way (60/342). That's all 5 chests for this dungeon. Heal up and quick save before climbing the final set of stairs. A cutscene plays at the top where Yang joins the party, followed by the boss.
How to beat Mom Bomb
Mom Bomb has 11,000 HP but isn't dangerous until it explodes. Attack normally for the first phase. After taking enough damage, the boss swells up and detonates within a few turns, dealing around 60-70 damage to the whole party. Defend or heal through the blast. It then splits into 3 Bombs and 3 Gray Bombs, which you should wipe out fast with AoE before they self-destruct individually.
East entrance. Go through the north door and follow the linear path down the mountain. No chests on this side, but Bloodbones (210 HP) spawn exclusively here. Fight at least one before exiting to register the bestiary entry. The exit leads to the overworld east of the mountain, with Fabul to the northeast.
