Shops

Exit the Devil’s Road building and walk to the inn. Rest if needed, then climb upstairs to the bar. Talk to Yang at the table to trigger two consecutive fights.

Talk to Yang at the bar to start the encounter.

Round one is two Baron Guards (280 HP each). Round two is Yang himself. Hit him with Tellah’s Thundaga or Blizzaga and Palom’s Twincast for heavy damage, but keep your HP topped off. Yang’s Kick hits the whole party. After both fights, Yang rejoins and you receive the Baron Key.

Town Chests

Leave the inn and use the Baron Key on the locked door to the weapon and armor shop in the north part of town. Inside the shop, walk to the bottom-right corner and push south to reveal a secret passage. Two chests behind the shops hold Zeus’s Wrath and 2,000 Gil. Exit the shop and use the Baron Key on the locked western building. Before going downstairs, walk east along the wall to reach a chest with 1,000 Gil. That’s all 3 town chests. Take the stairs down.

Old Waterway

Six new bestiary entries and 8 chests across four floors. The dungeon is full of hidden passages; push into walls whenever a path seems to dead-end. Three things to handle carefully:

  • Most enemies are weak to Lightning: Splasher, Hydra, Death Shell, and Flood Worm all take bonus damage from Thunder/Thundara. Palom and Tellah carry the dungeon
  • Gigas Gator is the odd one out, weak to Ice instead. Switch Palom to Blizzara for that fight
  • Electrofish absorbs Lightning, so don’t blast it with Thunder; use Projectile (bows/arrows) or physical attacks instead

B4

From the entrance, walk south to the bottom of the room. Three chests sit together: Hi-Potion, Ether, and Zeus’s Wrath. Push north and follow the linear path across the bridges. Take the stairs up.

B3

Take the stairs down to the water, then walk south through a wall passage. Open the chest for an Hourglass. Continue south through another wall passage for Spider’s Silk. From that chest, stand one tile below the stairs and push right to find a third hidden passage. Follow it east, then push left into the rocks past the first waterfall. The chest here holds Hermes Shoes. Backtrack east and walk north to the next floor.

B2

Walk north up the long staircase but stop before the door. Push left into the wall to find a hidden passage leading to an Ether. Loop back and through the door.

B1

Enter the room on the left for a save point and one last chest. Push through the passage on the right side of the room to find the Ancient Sword. That’s 8/8 chests for the Old Waterway.

Ancient Sword - Old Waterway B1, safe room right side (82/342)

Save at the safe room and rest the party. Exit through the door and climb the stairs into Castle Baron.

You’ll need to take the stairs down and come back up to reach the leftmost one. 2F has two Hi-Potions. On 3F, open three more chests: Tent, Tent, Ether.
