Ur & Kazus
From Altar Cave you walk south to Ur, the home village, then continue to Kazus to track down Cid’s Airship. This chapter covers both towns for 8 chests, 11 items, and 3 new bestiary entries in the wooded area east of Castle Sasune.
Ur
Shops
Enter Ur and visit the blue building to speak with Elder Topapa. He’ll fill you in on Kazus to the south and Castle Sasune to the west. The shrines on either side of his room fully heal and revive your party for free, so use them whenever you’re passing through.
Step into the Inn on the right. Walk straight through the first door and check the third pot inside for a Potion. Upstairs, the second pot has another Potion.
Exit the Inn and walk south until you hit the trees along the flower bed. Take a right through a hidden passage and drop into the well. Three chests sit at the bottom, all Potions. Climb back out.
From the well, walk north along the far right tree line. At the end of the flowerbed, interact with the grass for a Potion.
Then circle around the little lake and follow the path north to an isolated house in the top-left corner of the map. Inside, the fourth pot at the bottom holds an Antidote, and the second pot on the second row has another Antidote.
In the top-right corner of the isolated house, check the rightmost candle. It opens a secret passage. Climb the stairs to find the remaining five chests in Ur.
Pick up a Longsword, Leather Armor, Cure, Dagger, and a second Leather Armor. The Longsword and second Leather Armor go on any character without a sword or body slot filled. The Cure spell is the priority pickup, though.
South of the isolated house there’s a path between the trees. Follow it for the last hidden item in Ur, a Potion.
Then visit the shops. Skip Longswords and Daggers in the weapon shop since you already have two Longswords and a Dagger from chests. Grab a Bow and Wooden Arrows for a back-row Warrior or Black Mage, and a Nunchaku if a Monk wants a slight upgrade. In the armor shop, Leather Shield and Leather Cap fill empty Shield/Helm slots on Warrior or your mages, and the Leather Armor (90 Gil) is redundant since you have two from chests. Bronze Bracers are caster-only Gloves for Red Mage, White Mage, or Black Mage. Stock up on Potions at the item shop and grab a couple Antidotes for the Sealed Cave ahead. The magic shop sells just Poisona (100 Gil) right now, which is worth the Gil for the Sealed Cave’s poison damage.
Before leaving, talk to the old man in purple near the entrance. Give him a Potion and he’ll hand over Echo Herbs, which aren’t sold in any shop yet.
Leave Ur and walk into the woods east of Castle Sasune for three new bestiary entries.
New Enemies
Killer Bees die in one or two hits but show up in groups, so watch for chain encounters. Werewolves are the fastest of the three thanks to their high Agility and usually act first. Berserkers hit the hardest and are the real threat here. Register all three for the gold Field Research - Professional trophy.
From Ur, walk south to reach Kazus.
Kazus
Everyone in Kazus has been turned into a ghost by Djinn’s curse. You can’t buy anything from the shops yet, but there are five hidden items to collect and Cid waits at the Inn with his Airship.
Approach the first blue house but stop a few steps before it. Cut left into a narrow path through the trees and keep going until you reach a patch of grass on the left. Check the tree there for a hidden Staff. Continue north for a Mythril Helm and Zeus’s Wrath. The Mythril Helm bumps Magic Defense over the Leather Cap and equips on Warrior or Red Mage. Zeus’s Wrath deals lightning damage to all enemies, so save it for a tough fight.
Loop back out and step into the Inn. Speak with the ghost to the left of the flowers on the reception desk; this is Cid, FF3’s airship engineer. He tells you his Airship is parked in the desert outside Kazus and offers to let you use it. While you’re at the Inn, slip behind the counter past the glass of wine. On your left is a hidden Potion.
The Blacksmith house sits directly above the Inn. On the first row, the second pot holds the final hidden Potion.
Before you leave, make sure you’ve ticked off all three bestiary entries from the woods east of Castle Sasune. Once you’ve got them, walk into the desert outside Kazus. Cid’s Airship sits in the sand. Board it and take the controls to lift off.
Fly northwest to Castle Sasune. The castle has its own shops and a dungeon underneath, so make sure you’ve bought everything you need from Ur first. Stock up on Potions and Antidotes for the Sealed Cave ahead.
