Hidden items
Take the Invincible east to the mountainous region riddled with gaps. Hop the short ranges heading east, then south, then weave counterclockwise around the cluster of holes until you zero in on the cave entrance. Eight floors of hidden passages, dividing enemies, and the full Genji armor set wait inside.
Cave of Shadows
Three new bestiary entries join the roster here, alongside returning dividers from earlier dungeons.
Death Claw, Gaap, Silenus, and Haniel all reappear and they'll still divide on non-dark attacks. Every floor is packed with hidden paths through cracked walls; the mini-map is your best friend in here.
B1. Go east through a hidden wall for a Lamia Scale (247/367). Return to the entrance and head south, then east through another hidden passage for Bacchus's Cider (248/367). Talk to the Dark Knight NPC nearby for a free Kotetsu (Hidden Item 56/61). Take the stairs down. B2 is a short hidden passage east to the next stairs.
B3. Head north and watch for a crack in the west wall; push through for a Tranquilizer (249/367). Continue north to the top, then head west through the hidden paths for Lilith's Kiss (250/367). Follow the path south to the stairs.
B4. Walk south and take the first left deviation into a hidden room. Press the right wall to find a long southeast passage leading to Genji Gloves (251/367). Backtrack to the main hall, continue south, and follow the corridor to another hidden room with a four-way fork. But only one path leads to B5; you'll need your mini-map to find the correct exit.
B5-B6. Take the bottom-right path on B5 to descend. On B6, head left to the end of the hallway and duck south through the last crack for a Kiku-Ichimonji (252/367). Continue right and down through the snaking hidden paths. When you see three cracks on your left, take the middle one to reach the stairs.
B7. Follow the corridor south until you see multiple cracks on the right wall. Take the lower hidden path and follow it south for a Genji Shield (253/367). Backtrack and take the upper path to the stairs down.
B8. Immediately go right through the obvious crack for a Genji Helm (254/367). Head south past three cracks in the bottom wall and take the leftmost one east. On the next screen, go south immediately through a hidden path for the Genji Armor (255/367); that's the full Genji set. Return to the main path and cross the raised bridge west.
Walk right through the water from the long hall, find the short passage jutting south, and follow the hidden path branching right. It leads to the Fang of Earth, but a boss blocks the way. Heal up and save before interacting with it.
How to beat Hecatoncheir
Hecatoncheir has 9,800 HP and no elemental weaknesses. His entire moveset consists of physical attacks and Quake, making him one of the most straightforward bosses in the game. A dedicated White Mage on Curaja duty handles all the healing while your Dark Knights and casters unload their strongest attacks. He shouldn't last more than a few turns.
Grab the Fang of Earth after the fight. That's all four elemental fangs collected. Exit the cave via Teleport or an Ottershroom.
Earth Crystal jobs
Fly the Invincible northeast to the continent blocked by statues. Disembark and walk through each set to destroy them with the four fangs. Board the ship again, hop the mountain strip, and park in front of the Ancients' Maze. Enter and go directly north through the door to find the Earth Crystal, but a guardian stands in the way.
Titan has 20,000 HP, no elemental weakness, and resists nearly everything. He uses Quake, Flare, and strong physical attacks. Keep your healer on Curaja every turn, cast Protect early to soften his melee hits, and burn through his HP pool with your best offensive abilities. He's a beefier Hecatoncheir with Flare tacked on.
Three new jobs unlock from the Earth Crystal, and all three are direct upgrades over earlier classes.
- Devout is a straight upgrade from White Mage with access to all white magic levels and a much deeper MP pool. Switch your healer immediately
- Magus does the same for Black Mage; all black magic levels, more MP, and higher base Intellect for bigger damage numbers
- Summoner replaces Evoker with reliable summons that always deal damage (no more 50/50 random effects). Significantly stronger than anything the Evoker could produce
With the Earth Crystal's power and all four fangs spent, it's time to return to Doga. Take the Nautilus to the Dalg Continent (the Invincible can't handle the winds there) and fly to Doga's Manor. When you enter, Doga teleports you straight into his grotto.
