Enemy list
Chest list
Doga teleports you the moment you step into the manor. His grotto is three floors deep with six chests and a pair of boss fights at the bottom. If you still need a free heal, interact with the Earth Crystal in the Ancients' Maze entry area before coming here.
Doga's Grotto
Four new bestiary entries patrol the grotto. The enemies here hit harder than the Cave of Shadows, so keep your party healthy between fights.
Nemesis is the one to watch. Its Gaze ability inflicts Confuse, and one confused Dark Knight swinging at your own party can end a fight faster than any enemy attack (the Confuse here is far more dangerous now that your party hits harder). Target Nemesis first and kill it before Gaze lands. Ogre and Humbaba hit hardest at 103-105 ATK, with Humbaba sporting the biggest HP pool at 2,270. Cyclops falls quicker at 1,580 HP but swings just as hard. Peryton also returns here from the Sunken Cave, so it should already be in your bestiary.
B1. Go south from the entrance and cross the left bridge. Head south at the fork to a door. Inside, follow the hall north and west for 20,000 Gil (256/367). Circle the hall counterclockwise past the stairs for another 20,000 Gil (257/367). Take the stairs down.
B2. Head north to the fork and take the left path all the way to a door. Three chests inside each hold a Shining Curtain (260/367). Exit and return to the fork, then take the right path through the upper door for a fourth Shining Curtain (261/367). That's all six chests. Go down the stairs to B3.
B3. Follow the winding path past the waterfall. The corridor loops south and then east before reaching the boss door. Save at the far end before entering. This is important: your MP does not restore between the Doga and Unei fights. Whatever you spend on Doga carries into the Unei battle, so plan your spell usage across both encounters. Don't blow all your Curaja charges on the first fight.
How to beat Doga
Doga has 12,800 HP, resists Earth, and specializes in black magic. He'll throw every elemental -aga spell in the book alongside Flare, which hits a single target for over 1,000 damage. A Devout on Curaja duty handles the healing while your attackers burn through his HP. Go hard on physical damage but don't waste MP on expensive spells; Unei comes immediately after with no chance to rest.
How to beat Unei
Unei has 11,800 HP and fights with white magic. Tornado is the real threat; it drops any party member to single-digit HP in one cast. She also uses Holy for 1,000+ damage, plus Aeroga, Protect, and Haste on herself. But her physical defense isn't impressive. Dark Knights dual-wielding katanas tear through her in a few turns.
A scene plays after both fights. You receive the Syrcus Key and Eureka Key, both needed for the final dungeon.
With both keys in hand, the Crystal Tower is technically open. But three optional summon bosses are worth the detour first: Odin, Leviathan, and Bahamut each drop a powerful summon spell, and their summon spells hit harder than anything else you have access to right now. Switch to the Nautilus and head for the Saronia Catacombs.
