Submerge the Nautilus south of Saronia. Three optional dungeons sit between Doga's Grotto and the Crystal Tower, each guarding a summon boss. Their spells will make the final stretch easier, and the forty-five chests across all three dungeons are worth every fight.

Saronia Catacombs

Six new bestiary entries fill the catacombs, though none should give you trouble at this stage.

Fachan is the exception. Its Breakga spell petrifies party members; stock Gold Needles before diving. But Ouroboros only appears inside trap chests on B4 and shows up later as a regular enemy in Lake Dohr. You'll enter on B7, the deepest floor, and work your way up to Castle Saronia.

B7-B6. Head north from the entrance to B6, then follow the short path up to B5.

B5. Go east and loop around to a Golem Staff (262/367). Continue to the northeast corner for a Gaia Vest and Aegis Shield (264/367). Return to the entrance and take the opposite path west for Reflective Mail (265/367), then northwest for a Diamond Bell (266/367). Take the south stairs up to B4.

B4. Before entering the large room to the west, look east for a hidden passage. Eight trap chests sit at the end: the top four are each guarded by an Ouroboros and hold an Elixir apiece (270/367); the bottom four contain Phoenix Downs, each guarded by a Cenchos (274/367). That's all thirteen chests. Head back west through the main room and up the stairs to Castle Saronia B3.

The knight standing here was unreachable from Castle Saronia's upper floors. Heal, save, and approach him.

How to beat Odin

Odin has 20,000 HP, no elemental weaknesses, and two attacks that both hit hard. His standard strike lands at 157 ATK, and Zantetsuken slashes the entire party. Cast Protect early to cut both damage sources, then burn him down with your best physical attackers. Dragoons using Jump deal the best single-target damage.

He'll grant you Catastro after the fight, teaching Odin to your Summoner. Exit back down to B4 and Teleport out. Board the Invincible and fly to the Floating Continent; the next boss is at the bottom of a lake.

Lake Dohr

Fly to the lake south of Gulgan Gulch on the Floating Continent. Use the Invincible to clear the mountain range, disembark on the grass, and canoe to the shadow below the surface. Three new bestiary entries patrol the floors.

Plancti and Sea Lion sit around 760-770 HP with 113 ATK. They hit harder than anything in the Catacombs but lack dangerous abilities. Remora is the rarest of the three and tends to show up on B2 and B4; farm it before leaving if it hasn't appeared yet. Ouroboros from the Catacombs also roams the floors here as a regular encounter.

B1. Head south from the entrance and all the way southeast for four chests: Phoenix Down, Arctic Wind, Heavenly Wrath, and Earthen Drums (278/367). Go west and north to four more near the stairs: three Hi-Potions and an Elixir (282/367). Take the stairs down.

B2. Take the northeast fork at the split. Pick up a White Musk (283/367) along the path, then grab four more in the northeast alcove: Lamia Scale, Aegis Shield, Bacchus's Cider, and Turtle Shell (287/367). Return to the fork and take the southeast path down.

B3. Go north at the first split for three chests: Black Hole, Thorian Hammer, and Reflective Mail (290/367). One more sits just west of those: a Black Musk (291/367). Return to the split and go southwest for Raven's Yawn and Lilith's Kiss (293/367). That's all nineteen chests. Continue north to the stairs.

B4. Follow the bridges until you reach the shadow from the surface. Heal, save, and engage.

How to beat Leviathan

Lightning tears Leviathan apart. Thundaga, Ramuh, and Scholar lightning items all exploit the weakness for massive damage against his 22,000 HP. Tsunami is the real danger, hitting the entire party hard enough to wipe an underleveled group in one cast. Keep your Devout on Curaja duty and pour everything else into lightning damage.

You'll receive Leviath after the fight. Teleport out and reboard the Invincible. Fly southeast across the Floating Continent, clear the mountain range near the southeastern tip, and disembark near the cave entrance.

Bahamut's Lair

Bahamut's Lair adds five new bestiary entries, with one exclusive to B3.

Greater Boros can petrify with its standard attacks (more Gold Needles). Queen Lamia only spawns on B3, so farm her before leaving. Drake and Sabertooth Liger hit hard at 117 ATK but don't carry any status effects.

B1. Grab Heavenly Wrath and Earthen Drums (295/367) to the south of the entrance. Go east toward the stairs, then north at the fork for a Phoenix Down and Arctic Wind (297/367). Return south and take the stairs down.

B2. Cross the bridges west for a Golem Staff (298/367). Follow the linear path across more bridges to pick up Bacchus's Cider and a Lamia Scale (300/367), then Turtle Shell and Chocobo's Wrath (302/367) on the island just south. Take the stairs down.

B3. Four chests sit to the north: Phoenix Down, Black Musk, Elixir, and a Kotetsu (306/367). The Kotetsu is a strong katana; it's worth equipping on a Ninja or Dark Knight. Register Queen Lamia from the B3 encounters before leaving. The door north leads outside, where Bahamut waits on the overworld. Don't exit until you're healed and saved.

How to beat Bahamut

A Dragoon with two Wind Spears can hit 9,999 on Jump, and that alone makes Bahamut's 25,000 HP melt fast. His weakness to wind turns the hardest-hitting summon boss into the shortest fight if you brought the right gear. Megaflare deals over 1,000 to the whole party, so keep everyone topped off. Devouts should cast Aeroga between heals for bonus damage.

Reenter the cave to exit; Teleport drops you at the boss arena, not outside. Board the Invincible and return to the surface world. Before the final dungeons, thirteen Chocobo Woods across both continents still need a visit.

Chocobo Woods

Thirteen Chocobo Woods are scattered across the map, and every one needs visiting for a trophy. You've already entered two during the main story (north of Gulgan Gulch and between Dwarven Hollows and Molten Cave). The remaining eleven only need an enter-and-exit to register the location.

Floating Continent. One new Chocobo Woods sits east of the Village of the Ancients on the continent's southwestern rim. The other two on this continent were visited during the main walkthrough.

Near Saronia. Five woods ring the kingdom: south of the gates on a peninsula; at the river mouth southwest of the city; along the continent's western coast; north of the continent west of Replito; and east of Falgabard (redline the Invincible over the central mountains to reach it).

Eastern coast. Another five fill the remaining stretch: north of the Temple of Water; south of Goldor Manor; southeast of Amur; northwest of where Xande's statues once stood (redline over the mountains); and west of the Cave of Shadows.

With every location registered, verify your chest count reads 306/367 and hidden items sit at 56/61. Board the Invincible and head for the Ancients' Maze.
