Cave of Shadows
The Cave of Shadows is the home of the Fang of Earth and the last dungeon before the Earth Crystal. Eight floors of hidden walls, dividing enemies, and the full Genji armor set wait inside, with Hecatoncheir guarding the exit. This chapter covers Cave of Shadows for 9 chests, 2 items, and 3 new bestiary entries.
From Falgabard, fly the Invincible east into the broken mountain range. The path threads through narrow gaps; the video below traces the full route.
Cave of Shadows
Eight floors of hidden corridors. Three new enemies plus returning dividers from earlier chapters. Every floor hides chests behind cracked walls, so keep the minimap open.
New Enemies
- Hellish Horse rolls Fira, Blizzara, or Thundara on 17% of turns each plus a 49% Fight. No exploitable weakness, so out-damage it.
- Chronos and Vassago are pure physical, both weak to Dark.
- Silenus, Gaap, Haniel, and Death Claw return from earlier chapters and still divide on a non-killing hit.
B1. From the entrance, slip east through a hidden wall for a Lamia Scale. Return to the entrance and walk south, then east through another hidden passage for a Bacchus’s Cider. Talk to the Dark Knight NPC nearby; he hands over a free Kotetsu. Take the stairs down.
B2. Short hidden passage east leads to the next stairs.
B3. Walk north and watch for a crack in the west wall; slip through for a Tranquilizer. Continue north and east into a hidden room; press against the right wall for the long southeast passage to the Genji Gloves. Backtrack and follow the western hidden paths for a Lilith’s Kiss, then take the southern path to the stairs.
B4. Walk south and follow the corridor through the four-way fork; the minimap shows which exit leads to B5.
B5 - B6. Take the bottom-right exit on B5 to descend. On B6, walk left to the end of the hallway and duck south through the last crack for a Kiku-Ichimonji, the strongest katana you can grab in the cave. Walk right and down through the snaking hidden paths; when three cracks appear on the left wall, take the middle one to reach the stairs.
B7. Follow the corridor south until cracks appear on the right wall. Take the lower hidden path south for a Genji Shield. Backtrack and take the upper path to the stairs.
B8. Right at the entrance, walk right through the obvious crack for a Genji Helm. Walk south past three cracks in the bottom wall and take the leftmost one east. On the next screen, go south immediately through a hidden path for the Genji Armor, completing the Genji set.
Return to the main path and cross the raised bridge west. From the long hall, walk right through the water and find the short passage jutting south. Follow the hidden branch east to the Fang of Earth chamber; a boss blocks the way.
How to Beat Hecatoncheir
Grab the Fang of Earth after the fight, the fourth and final fang. Exit the cave via Teleport or an Ottershroom.
Fly the Invincible northeast to the continent guarded by four statues. Land on the coast, walk up to each statue, and use the matching fang to destroy it. Return to the Invincible, hop the mountain strip, and park at the Ancients’ Maze. Walk north through the door into the Earth Crystal antechamber; Titan stands at the altar.
