Mysidian Tower

10 New Enemies 24 Chests

The Mysidian Tower is 10 floors of elemental hazards. Fire, ice, and lightning each get their own section, and the gear you find inside counters the Gigas at the end of each one. The Ultima Tome waits at the top. This chapter covers Mysidian Tower for 24 chests and 10 new bestiary entries.

Reaching the Tower

Approach the tower at the centre of the southern continent and use the Crystal Rod to open the door. Bring Ethers; this dungeon burns through MP fast across three boss fights and 10 floors of random encounters.

Use the Crystal Rod to open the tower.

Basilisks (750 HP) cast Stone Gaze on roughly half their turns; one petrify on your healer is a reset, so keep Gold Needles stocked. Malboro Terras (1000 HP) hit 7 times per turn and resist Lightning (opposite of Cave of Mysidia Malboros), so swap to Fire here. They keep the Bad Breath stunlock risk too. Werewolves (540 HP) fill the lower floors with 4-hit physicals. Imps (300 HP) spawn on every floor and cast offensive Lv5 spells, but die in one hit. Vampire Girls (540 HP, weak Fire) drain HP and inflict Sleep, so keep moving on them. Devil’s Blooms (1140 HP, weak Fire) hit hard and appear from 3F up. The recurring undead (Revenants, Specters, Ghosts) are weak to Fire and Holy.

1F-2F

1F (4 chests). Four chests spread across the room. The Ether is to the right, then a Staff on the left. A second Staff is at the top right. The White Robe requires a hidden wall; from the second Staff, walk south until you hit a wall, then push left through a hidden passage. The stairs to 2F are in the centre.

2F (3 chests). The Flame Bow is at the top of the room with the Flame Lance right next to it. The Flame Shield is in the top-left corner. From the shield, push south then east to the stairs up to 3F.

3F: Fire Gigas

3F (3 chests). Lava chips your HP on this floor, but the damage is small. Skip the first three doors and walk to the west side to take the last door. Before heading up, grab the Flame Sword on the eastern side. Up the stairs, the Flame Helm and Flame Armor sit on either side of the room.

Walk through the centre door; a mage in red blocks the stairs and transforms into the Fire Gigas.

4F-5F: Ice Gigas

4F (4 chests, one via a 5F detour). As you enter, take a left for the Ice Shield and walk south to the steps leading up to 5F. Follow the path, grab the Ice Lance, then go back down. Walk south for the Ice Gloves, then continue east. Take the immediate left and push to the centre for the Ice Armor. The small passage to the northeast leads to 5F.

5F (1 chest). Then the boss. Follow the path around for the Ice Brand, then continue to the next room.

Ice Brand - Mysidian Tower 5F, along the main path (169/234).

A mage in blue blocks the stairs and transforms into the Ice Gigas.

6F-7F: Thunder Gigas

6F (2 chests). Walk east to grab the Elixir. Make your way back and follow the path south, ignoring the doors on the east. Before the very last door, detour north for the Wizard’s Staff, then take the door on the left to 7F.

7F (3 chests). Spider Silk in the middle bottom, Hermes’s Shoes on the right, Unicorn Horn at the top.

Take the left door; a mage in green blocks the stairs and transforms into the Thunder Gigas.

8F-9F: Flare Tome and the Tower Top

8F (1 chest). The Flare Tome sits at the top right, the strongest black magic spell in the game. The chest is a monster trigger: 2 Gottos and 1 Devil’s Bloom ambush it. Both Gottos hit 6 times per turn and self-buff with Berserk/Haste (same as the Castle Fynn boss fight, twice over). Cast Fire on Devil’s Bloom (its weakness) and burst the Gottos before their buffs stack. Teach Flare to your black mage right after and start leveling immediately. Walk south and take the right door to reach 9F.

Flare Tome - Mysidian Tower 8F. Gottos + Devil's Bloom ambush (175/234).

9F (3 chests). The Hourglass is on the right, the Cross in the bottom-left. The Black Robe is upstairs at the top right and has its own monster ambush: a single White Dragon (2500 HP, weak Fire). It hits 6 times per turn and casts party-wide Icestorm frequently, so cast Blink before opening the chest. Multi-target Lv6+ Fire takes it down quickly. From the chest, walk south then east. Four doors line the wall; take the second from the left to reach 10F.

Minwu and the Ultima Tome

Minwu is waiting on 10F. Speak with him and a cutscene plays. Walk through the door once it ends.

Minwu at the seal.

Inside are 5 crystals: four silver around the edges, one gold in the centre. Touch all four silver crystals first since each gives a permanent stat boost to the entire party (Strength, Spirit, Agility, Intelligence). Then grab the gold crystal in the centre for the Ultima Tome.

Step on the purple teleport pad to exit. The next chapter takes you to the Cyclone, after which the world map changes permanently, so make sure your overworld bestiary is in order before you go.
