The Mysidian Tower is 10 floors of elemental hazards. Fire, ice, and lightning each get their own section, and the gear you find inside counters the Gigas boss at the end of each one. This chapter has 24 chests, 7 new bestiary entries, and one new location.
Approach the tower and use the Crystal Rod to open the door. Bring Ethers; this dungeon burns through MP fast with three boss fights and 10 floors of random encounters.

Mysidian Tower
Basilisks (750 HP, 70 ATK) can petrify party members just like Cockatrices; keep Gold Needles stocked. Malboro Terras are an upgraded version of the Malboros from Cave of Mysidia, with the same Bad Breath stunlock risk. Chimeras hit hard and resist most magic. And the monster chests contain enemies you won't find anywhere else: Devil's Bloom (1,140 HP), Gottos, and White Dragon (2,500 HP, 150 ATK). Open every chest to complete the bestiary.
1F-2F
1F. Four chests spread across the room. Chest 1 (Ether) is to the right. Chest 2 (Staff) is on the left side. Chest 3 (Staff) is at the top right. Chest 4 (White Robe) requires a hidden wall; from Chest 3, head south until you hit a wall, then walk left through a hidden passage to reach it. The stairs to 2F are in the center.
2F. Three chests on this floor. Chest 5 (Flame Bow) is at the top of the room with Chest 6 (Flame Lance) right next to it. Chest 7 (Flame Shield) is in the top left corner. From Chest 7, head south and go east to take the stairs up to 3F.
3F - Fire Gigas
3F. Three chests on this floor and lava that damages your health (but it's a small amount). Skip the first three doors and walk to the west side of the room to take the last door. Before heading up the stairs, go to the eastern side of the room to pick up Chest 8 (Flame Sword). Walk up the stairs and on both left and right of the room are Chests 9 and 10 (Flame Helm and Flame Armor). Walk through the door in the middle. A mage in red blocks the stairs ahead and transforms into the Fire Gigas.
Easiest of the three Gigas. Blizzard at level 6 or higher ends this fight in two rounds. Fire Gigas absorbs all fire damage, so don't cast Fire or equip fire weapons. His Boulders attack hits your whole party, but Blink dodges it entirely.
4F-5F - Ice Gigas
4F. Four chests on this floor (including a quick detour to 5F). As you enter the room, take a left to pick up Chest 11 (Ice Shield) and walk south until you see some steps leading to 5F. Follow the path and pick up Chest 12 (Ice Lance), then head back downstairs the way you came. Walk south and pick up Chest 13 (Ice Gloves), then continue east. Take the immediate left and go to the center of the room to pick up Chest 14 (Ice Armor). Take the small passage to the northeast of the room to reach 5F.
5F. Only one chest on this floor. Follow the path around and pick up Chest 15 (Ice Brand), then continue to the next room. A mage in blue blocks the stairs and transforms into the Ice Gigas.
Equip the Flame gear from 3F before this fight. The Flame Sword deals fire damage on every swing, and the armor resists his Blizzard attacks. Between that and Fire spells, Ice Gigas goes down fast despite his 120 DEF. He hits harder than Fire Gigas (120 ATK), so keep Blink and Protect active the entire fight.
6F-7F - Thunder Gigas
6F. Walk to the very east to pick up Chest 16 (Elixir). Make your way back and follow the path south, ignoring all the doors on the east. Before the very last door, take a detour north to grab Chest 17 (Wizard's Staff), then head to the door on the left and continue to 7F.
7F. Three chests on this floor. Chest 18 (Spider Silk) is in the middle bottom of the room, Chest 19 (Hermes's Shoes) is on the right, and Chest 20 (Unicorn Horn) is at the top of the room. Take a left and walk through the door. A mage in green blocks the stairs and transforms into the Thunder Gigas.
Thunder Gigas has 150 ATK, 150 DEF, and Thunderbolt hits everybody. Physical attacks bounce off that defense, so you need Scourge leveled to at least 5 for reliable damage. Blink and Protect are mandatory; without them, Thunderbolt can wipe your party in two rounds. This is a longer fight than the other two Gigas, so bring Elixirs to sustain your MP.
8F-9F
8F. One chest on this floor, but it's the most important in the tower. Chest 21 (Flare Tome) is at the top right of the map, guarded by 2 Gottos and a Devil's Bloom. Flare is the strongest black magic spell in the game; teach it to your black mage and start leveling it immediately. Head south and take the right door to reach 9F.
9F. Three chests to finish the tower's 24. Chest 22 (Hourglass) is on the right, Chest 23 (Cross) is on the bottom left. Chest 24 (Black Robe) is upstairs at the top right, guarded by a White Dragon (2,500 HP, 150 ATK). It's an ice-based enemy, so blast it with Fire spells. From the chest, head south, then east. Four doors line the wall; take the second from the left to reach 10F.
Minwu and the Ultima Tome
Minwu is waiting ahead. Speak with him and a plays. Walk through the door once it ends.

Inside are 5 crystals: four silver around the edges, one gold in the center. Touch all four silver crystals first because each one gives a stat boost to your entire party:
- Strength crystal
- Spirit crystal
- Agility crystal
- Intellect crystal
After collecting all four stat boosts, grab the gold crystal in the middle for the Ultima Tome. The game doesn't require you to learn this spell, but you absolutely should. Unlike Flare, Ultima is white magic (scales with Spirit, not Intellect), so teach it to your white mage. Step on the purple teleport pad to exit.
Head back to Mysidia or Altair to rest and resupply. The next chapter takes you to the Cyclone, and the world map changes permanently after that.
