Leviathan swallows your ship. You're sailing toward the Mysidian Tower with the Crystal Rod when the sea monster rises and gulps your vessel down. No warning, no fight. Just darkness and the inside of a giant creature's stomach.

Leila splits off during the chaos. She finds her own way out; you'll see her again at Castle Fynn. The Pixel Remaster auto-unequips departing members, so her gear goes back to your inventory. For now, you're running with three until you find someone else down here.

Overworld Before the Ambush

On the voyage from Cave of Mysidia toward the tower, you'll hit sea encounters. Four of these are missable bestiary entries that vanish after you finish the Mysidian Tower: Buccaneer, Helldiver, Killer Fish, and Sea Snake. Sail around and log them if you haven't already. Black Flan, Malboro, and Parasite also roam the overworld near Mysidia, but those stick around.

Inside Leviathan

Three areas. Small dungeon, but every chest counts because you can't come back. The floors are covered in lava-like stomach acid that deals 1 HP per step. Not dangerous on its own, but it adds up. Walk with purpose and heal after crossing the rough patches.

First area. Follow the only path through the acid-covered floor. Chest 1 sits along the route (Hi-Potion). Grab chest 2 further ahead before the exit (Cottage). Keep moving; Bolt Fish and Manta Rays show up as random encounters. Bolt Fish aren't much trouble. Manta Rays hit harder and come in groups, so don't let HP get too low from the floor damage.

Second area. Survivors are standing to the left. Head up and left past a man in dark blue. That's Ricard, but don't talk to him yet. Go past him first and grab chest 3 (Power Armlet). Now circle back.

Ricard the Dragoon

Talk to Ricard, the last Dragoon of Deist. Show him the Crystal Rod and he joins immediately as your fourth member. Good. Three characters against what's ahead felt thin.

Ricard's a physical attacker with solid Strength. He comes with his own equipment, so check what he's got and swap in anything better from your inventory. He'll carry his weight in the boss fight. Head to the top-left exit once he's geared up.

Final Area

Two chests left in this last section. Chest 4 is at the top of the area near what looks like teeth (Gaia Blade). Equip it on your sword user right away; it's a solid upgrade. Chest 5 is at the bottom, roughly the same position but mirrored. It's a monster-in-box with Red Souls guarding a Diamond Shield. Red Souls are easy (a couple hits each) so don't stress.

See the ship in the middle-left? That's the way out. But a Roundworm blocks it.

Roundworm is annoying. No weaknesses, 100 Defense, and it only uses physical attacks. Magic isn't great against it either (that 4x 50% Magic Defense). This is a Blink fight. Keep images up on everybody, especially your healer. Cast Berserk on your physical attackers and chip away. With 2,500 HP it takes a while, but the Roundworm can't kill you if it can't hit you. Use that Cottage from earlier if you need full HP/MP going in.

Beat the worm, board the ship, and sail out of Leviathan's mouth. Ricard stays as your fourth member.
