Castle Deist
The Dreadnought is gone and Gordon has taken charge of the rebellion. Now you need allies, and Gordon sends you to find the Dragoons at Castle Deist. This chapter covers Altair, Paloom, and Castle Deist for 14 chests, 4 new bestiary entries (3 of them missable), and 2 new keywords.
Altair
Visit Gordon in the throne room and ask him about the rebellion’s next move. Gordon mentions the Dragoons; Learn the keyword and ask him about it. He then mentions Wyverns, so learn that too. Walk north to Paloom to find a ship to Deist.
Paloom
At Paloom’s entrance, near the pirate who used to take you to Poft, a woman named Leila offers passage to Deist. Accept her offer.
Leave Paloom and you’ll see her ship docked at the harbor. Board it. The moment you step on deck and sail for a few seconds, Leila reveals herself as a pirate captain and her crew surrounds the party.
How to Beat the Pirates
After the fight, the party asks Leila to join the rebellion. She agrees and joins as your fourth member, handing over her ship in the process. Equip her with whatever spare gear you have; she starts at low level with weak weapons.
Sailing to Castle Deist
You now have a ship and can sail anywhere reachable by sea.
New Enemies (*Missable)
Sea Snake (300 HP) is the real threat out here. Both Sea Snake and Killer Fish are weak to Lightning, so this is finally where Thunder pays off if you’ve been leveling it. Killer Fish (100 HP) and Buccaneers (80 HP) are manageable but show up in groups. Cast Protect at the start of every sea battle.
Sail east from Paloom, then south through the passage between the landmasses. Continue south and northeast. Deist is on the large island in the top-right corner of the world map.
Dock on the southern coast and head north on foot to reach the castle.
Castle Deist
Castle Deist isn’t a dungeon: no random encounters and no bosses, just 14 treasure chests across two floors. Enter and talk to the boy near the entrance, then walk up and speak to him again by the statues. Take the stairs up to 2F.
2F (1 chest). Grab the Cottage in the top-left corner, then walk right and take the stairs back down to 1F.
1F (13 chests). From the stairs, walk south to the dead end for the Unicorn Horn. Back up and enter the door on your left for Stop Tome, Stun Tome, and Curse Tome.
Leave the room and go right, then up, then push left toward the top-left door. Eight chests crammed into one room: Eye Drops, Gold Needle, Antidote, Sage’s Wisdom, Cross, Saint’s Spirit, Mallet, and the Wing Sword (Bonus vs Flying enemies, a solid upgrade for Firion).
Leave the room and double back toward 2F. Take the stairs in the bottom-left to drop back to 1F at a different spot. The Phoenix Down chest is right by these stairs.
With all 14 chests collected, go upstairs and find the boy and his mother in the center of the floor.
The Last Wyvern
The mother explains her husband was a Dragoon. The Dragoons are all dead now, and she’s been guarding the last surviving wyvern. It’s in the room behind her but can’t communicate with you yet. You need the Pendant from Deist Cavern, just north of the castle.
The next chapter heads into Deist Cavern for the Pendant. Stock Antidotes for Venom and keep your healing magic leveled before you go.
