Bafsk Cave

1 New Enemies 3 Chests 2 Keywords

With the Mythril delivered, return to the rebel hideout and talk to Hilda. Ask her about Dreadnought and she’ll send you to Bafsk. This chapter covers Bafsk and Bafsk Cave for 3 chests, 1 new enemy, and 2 new keywords.

Hilda sends you to investigate the Dreadnought.

Take the Canoe across the lake to Paloom, board the ship to Poft, then pay 200 Gil for an airship flight to Bafsk. Walking north around the mountain works too if you’d rather grind on the way.

Bafsk

Bafsk is an Imperial-occupied port town. The shops are worth the detour before you push into the cave.

Shops

The magic shop is the highlight: Esuna and Basuna are the two status-cure spells you’ll lean on for the rest of the game. Buy both at 600 Gil each and start leveling them. Esuna covers blind, poison, curse, amnesia, toad, and (at Lv6+) petrify. Basuna handles venom, sleep, silence, mini, paralysis, and confusion. Between the two, you’ll cover every relevant status. The Silver Cuirass in the armor shop (200 Gil) matches Mythril Armor’s defense for less Gil, so it’s a cheap alternative if you skipped that earlier.

Walk south until you spot a lone soldier at the back of town. Ask him about Wild Rose first to prove you’re a rebel, then ask about Dreadnought. He steps aside and reveals a hidden passage to the cave.

Bafsk Cave

Bafsk Cave is a short two-floor dungeon with 3 chests and no boss.

Zombies (30 HP) are the only new entry here. They swing as hard as the Soldiers from Semitt Falls but Fire tears through them since they’re undead. The other encounters are repeats from earlier chapters.

B1 (2 chests). From the entrance, walk up the passage to find the Longsword chest. Backtrack and follow the path right; it curves around to the bottom-left corner where the Longbow sits. Continue right and take the exit to B2.

B2 (1 chest). Go right and skip the first intersection. Keep going right, then up. The path zigzags in a lightning-bolt shape; follow it until you see light coming through an opening. A cutscene plays. After it ends, return inside and go right through the door to grab the Pass, the key item that lets you board the Dreadnought later. Step on the purple teleportation pad to warp out.

Pass - Bafsk Cave B2, after the Dark Knight cutscene (17/234).

Learning About Sunfire

The teleporter drops you outside Bafsk. Walk north around the mountain, keeping it on your right, until you reach Poft.

Fly to Altair and talk to Hilda. Ask her about Sunfire. Then exit the throne room and go right to the King’s chamber. Ask him about Sunfire and he’ll point you to Kashuan Keep, where it’s stored. The keep is sealed, though, so you also need the Goddess’s Bell. Learn the keyword and ask him about it.

The King tells you about the Goddess's Bell.

Return to Hilda in the throne room and ask her about Goddess’s Bell. She’ll send you back to Josef in Salamand.

Without Minwu, your party loses its best healer. Make sure Maria’s Cure is well-leveled before setting off, and stock Potions, Antidotes, and Eye Drops. The next chapter takes you back to Salamand and into the Snow Cavern for the Goddess’s Bell.
