The Time Egg

This chapter begins after confronting Magus at North Cape. You can do sidequests now, but I'll assume you want Crono back first - and on a first playthrough, you almost certainly do. On New Game+, you already have the gear from sidequests anyway.

The Black Omen Rises

Take to the skies in the Epoch and you'll see the Ocean Palace rise from the ocean and become the Black Omen. It appears in all time periods from 12,000 B.C. onward. More on that in the next chapter.

Getting the Chrono Trigger

Head to the End of Time and talk to Gaspar. If Magus is in your party (and Marle isn't), he has special dialogue for his old pupil. Either way, Gaspar plays "Memories of Crono." As you start to leave, he offers you a Chrono Trigger (Time Egg) - it gives you a chance to alter history. He tells you to visit Belthasar.

Getting the Clone. If you don't already have a Clone of Crono, fly to 1000 A.D. and compete at Bekkler's Lab in the Millennial Fair. He'll let you play even without Crono in your party. Once you win one, pick up the Clone at Crono's house.

Keeper's Dome. With the Clone in hand, fly to the Keeper's Dome in 2300 A.D. Talk to the Nu (Belthasar). He has one final program to execute to help you climb Death Peak, then asks you to let him sleep. Head north of the dome to find Death Peak.

Death Peak

Three Poyozo dolls help you through this mountain. The first challenge is dominated by fast-blowing winds that knock you out of the area.

Wind section. Hold B and race to the first Poyozo Doll, then rest behind the tree. Grab the Power Tab to the right of the tree. When the wind dies down, race forward; walk (don't run) steadily behind trees to hold your position when it blows hard. After passing a second tree, you'll reach a new area.

Fight a few enemies and grab the Magic Ring. Move to the next area with a Wall Ring and a save point. The cave nearby has a Lavos Spawn.

Pick up the Giga Arm (Robo weapon), cross a cliff, and grab the BraveSword (Frog weapon). Use the blinking blue dot to open a passage in the rock cliff, then backtrack and go through the cave you opened. Pick up the StarScythe (Magus weapon), fight the Krakker that falls, and continue north through the door.

Second Poyozo doll. After another Lavos Spawn fight, the second doll advises you not to fall off. The bridge ahead has wind blowing against you - hold up the whole time to maintain position, and press B only when you need to move forward. Head into the next area where Krakkers keep falling from the cliff. Pick up the VedicBlade (Crono weapon) and head south.

Third Poyozo doll. You'll meet the third doll and backtrack above the area you walked earlier. Head down a ladder to reach a save point and grab the Dark Helm (halves Shadow damage for guys/Frog/Robo).

The third doll said "push the shell, climb the shell." After fighting the third Lavos Spawn, push its shell so the top roughly lines up with the ladder in the cliff. Press A to climb onto it, then climb the wall to the higher ledge. Grab the Memory Cap off to the right on the ledge behind the tree.

Summit: Reviving Crono

The next area is the clear summit of Death Peak. Your party attempts to rescue Crono. Magus has some interesting reactions to the time freeze; Marle naturally has a vested interest. Each party member says unique things if you bring them along.

You travel to the instant before Crono died and freeze time. Exchange the Clone for Crono's body right before Lavos destroyed him. Your party returns with Crono alive, ready to confront Lavos and finish the final quests.
