The Magic Kingdom

The world of 12,000 B.C. is bleak - everything is covered in ice with little sign of life. You can enter the Terra Cave to the west, but the ladder gets pulled up out of reach. Head east to a Sky Bridge and warp up to the floating Kingdom of Zeal.

Enhasa

The first city you reach is Enhasa, where residents spend their time dreaming. Talk to the people; one hints at a "doorway of destiny" hidden somewhere. You'll also meet a sullen boy who predicts that one of your party will shortly perish - an ominous warning you'll understand later.

You'll learn about the Blackbird airship, the north palace where elemental weapons are sealed, and the existence of the Earthbound Ones - people without magic who live on the frozen land below.

Book puzzle. Save outside first, then open the elemental books in this order: Water (upper-right corner), Wind (upper-left corner), Fire (near entrance). A bookcase lowers, revealing a hidden room. Inside, a Nu offers to test you.

6 Nu

The Nu splits into six. Three of them (top-left, top-right, bottom-middle) reduce your HP to 1 regardless of your max. The other three only deal 1 damage.

  • Bring three magic users with level 2 elemental spells
  • Have everyone cast their strongest AoE magic
  • You can win in 2 rounds (2 hits each) this way
  • Heal immediately if reduced to 1 HP
Rewards: 744 Exp 90 TP

Victory rewards a Magic Tab and Speed Tab. The XP and TP are excellent for this point in the game.

Kajar

Head north from Enhasa, take the Land Bridge down to the frozen surface, then head north again to another Sky Bridge. This takes you to a new section of the floating islands. Visit the Blackbird (the great ship built by Guru Belthasar) - guards will block you, and Dalton appears to accuse you of being "those whom the prophet predicted." His maniacal laughter makes clear you're not welcome.

Enter Kajar, the city where magic is studied. You'll learn about the Sun Keep, the Sun Stone, and how a Moon Stone can be charged into a Sun Stone. A man creates Magic Tabs here but won't share. Most importantly, a sleeping Nu gives a clue: "water summons wind, wind makes fire dance."

Speed Tab. Notice a blinking blue dot in the upper-right of the screen? You can't grab it directly. Enter the upper-right door and check the bottom-right of that room for the Speed Tab.

Book puzzle. Open the books in order: Water (top-left), Wind (bottom-right), Fire (north side of the desk around the Nu vendor). A bookcase lowers. Inside, you'll find a diary about Dreamstone and receive a Black Rock from the Poyozo. This accessory unlocks the "Dark Eternal" Triple Tech - but only two of your current characters can equip it. Interesting, isn't it?

Zeal Palace

Head east from Kajar and enter the cave at the mountain's base. Ride the light up, cross the bridge, and navigate through another cave to reach Zeal Palace.

Important interactions. Talk to everyone, but don't miss these:

Nu scratching. Talk to the Nu and agree to scratch its back. You'll learn its "secret scratch point." Return to Kajar and find the Nu in the room with the Tabs; scratch its back for a Magic Tab.

Schala and Janus. Head to the northeast door to learn about Schala and Janus. Go through the center door to watch Schala use her pendant to open a sealed door. You'll learn that your pendant resembles the one the Gurus made for Schala - both are made of Dreamstone, hinting they're the same pendant passed down through time.

Charging the pendant. Go through the left door to the Mammon Machine room. Approach and press A to power up your pendant.

Return to the sealed door and use your powered pendant to open it.

Boss: Golem

The Queen is displeased by your intrusion. Dalton summons a Golem to deal with you.

Golem

The Golem copies whatever attack style you use - physical, Lightning, Fire, etc. Physical counters hit hard; one cuts a target's HP in half (Iron Orb). Lightning and Shadow counters hit the whole party for heavy damage. Fire counters are weak, especially with Ruby Vests.

  • You can lose this fight and the story continues normally
  • If you want to win: attack with whatever magic you want, but always finish with Lucca's Fire
  • Ending on Fire guarantees it counters with weaker fire attacks
  • Ruby Vests further reduce fire damage
  • Its death attack copies Dalton for ~100 damage to all - keep HP up
  • Don't forget to Charm the Magic Tab
Rewards: 1000 Exp 35 TP 2000 Gil

Aftermath. Win or lose, you're captured. Schala frees you, but the Prophet arrives and sends you back through the time portal to 65,000,000 B.C., sealing it behind you. Head to the End of Time for the next chapter.
