Northwest Alefgard
Head northwest from Tantegel to find Garinham and Erdrick's Cave. The town has better equipment than Brecconary, but you can't do much else here until you have magic keys. Come back later.
Enemies
Between Tantegel and Garinham you'll fight Slimes, Red Slimes, Drakees, Ghosts, and Magicians. Ghosts can put you to sleep; Magicians cast Hurt. Neither is dangerous if you're level 5+ with decent gear.
Cross the western bridge and things get harder. Magidrakees and Scorpions hit harder and have more HP. Don't cross until you have the Copper Sword and Chain Mail at minimum. Every bridge in this game marks a difficulty spike — respect them.
Garinham
| Item | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Club | 60G | Same as Brecconary. |
| Copper Sword | 180G | Same as Brecconary. |
| Hand Axe | 560G | +15 Attack. Solid midgame weapon. |
| Leather Armor | 70G | Same as Brecconary. |
| Chain Mail | 300G | +10 Defense. Big upgrade. |
| Half Plate | 1,000G | +16 Defense. Save for this. |
| Large Shield | 800G | +10 Defense. Only here and Cantlin. |
| Herb | 24G | Same price everywhere. |
| Torch | 8G | For caves. Get Radiant at level 9. |
The inn costs 25G — expensive. Keep using the free MP guy in Tantegel instead.
NPCs mention the wizard Garin, who founded the town. His grave is supposedly somewhere here, along with a Silver Harp. The secret is behind a locked door — you'll need magic keys from Rimuldar to access it. Remember this for later.
Erdrick's Cave
South of Garinham sits your first dungeon. Good news: no enemies spawn here. Bad news: it's pitch black. Bring a Torch or wait until level 9 when you learn Radiant.
The cave is small — two floors. Navigate down to find a tablet with a message from Erdrick. It confirms your destiny and hints at what you need to defeat the Dragonlord. No treasure, no fights, just lore. Worth visiting once you have light.
