Gohn, Catapult & Airship
After Lix & Desert of Shifting Sands, Gohn collapses into a hidden Catapult under Crescent that hands over the airship. The chapter is mostly cutscenes and two short boss fights, one at the Catapult and one inside the Tycoon Meteorite for the Adamantite. 3 chests in a hidden Catapult puzzle and 2 new bestiary entries.
Gohn, the Town of Ruin
Gohn has no chests, no shops, and no random encounters. The whole town is a series of cutscenes leading to the catapult under Crescent.
- Walk north to trigger the first short cutscene at the first set of stairs.
- Don’t climb the stairs. Walk west toward the other stairs to trigger the next cutscene.
- Go back to the first stairs and climb them for the remaining cutscenes, then proceed north into the destroyed structure.
The destroyed structure floor caves in and drops the party into Gohn B1. Walk west and step through the door, then head north and stand on the large platform. The platform teleports the party to the Catapult under Crescent.
Catapult
The Catapult is a hidden bunker under Crescent. The full walk is in the video below; the puzzle directions follow.
From the teleport room, head east and climb both sets of stairs into the Living Quarters. A switch by the north door opens the path forward, but don’t press it yet. The hidden-chest puzzle is in the side rooms first.
Hidden chests puzzle
Three chests sit behind a wall puzzle that needs a chain of interactions to unlock.
- Rest in the middle room. Sleeping triggers the first hint when waking.
- Plant pot in the same room. Examine the rightmost plants for a note: “Read the notepad in the room on the right…”
- Notepad in the eastern room. Examine it for the next hint: “Check the urn.”
- Urn in the western room. Examine the left urn under the top-left bookcase. A toad pops out and knocks a book off the top-right bookcase.
- Book on the floor. Read it: “Go down 6 and right 4, then pull what’s there!”
Follow the book’s directions exactly: from the book’s tile, move 6 tiles down and 4 tiles right, then interact with the wall. The blocking wall vanishes and the three chests are accessible.
That’s 3/3 chests for the Catapult. Return to the Living Quarters.
Switches and the Hangar
Push the switch by the north door to trigger a scene, then head north through it. The next room has a consecrated circle. Save before going on, then continue north, then east, down the stairs.
The hangar holds the sunken Fire-Powered Ship and a propeller-fitted replica next to it. Cross the bridge, watch the scenes, then head down inside the new ship. Below deck, go down again and talk to Cid for more cutscenes.
The new ship turns out to be an airship. Before it can fly, something is weighing it down. Heal up and quick-save, then talk to Cid again to trigger the boss fight.
How to Beat Cray Claw
Winning adds the airship to the active mount. The airship flies over anything unlike the Black Chocobo, but it can only land on normal land (no forests, no deserts). Disembarking anywhere over the ocean turns it into a sailing ship; re-board on the water to take off again.
Castle Tycoon
Fly the airship back to Castle Tycoon. Land nearby and head inside.
Speak to the Chancellor in the throne room and choose to stay the night. The morning scenes set up the next objective. Walk out of the castle when control returns.
Back to Gohn
Board the airship and fly back toward Gohn. The approach triggers a cutscene.
Once the cutscene plays out, take the airship back to Crescent and head down to the Catapult through the same hidden entrance from earlier in the chapter.
In the hangar, approach the bridge and watch the scenes, then interact with the wheel to depart.
Tycoon Meteorite
Fly northeast from the Catapult to the first meteor crater, just south of Castle Tycoon.
Land next to the meteorite, head inside, and walk up to the meteorite itself. Galuf triggers a cutscene that cracks it open. Step in.
The interior warp pad is disabled. Head north and pull the crystal off the wall to grab Adamantite.
Heal up and quick-save, then try to exit the meteorite. A boss blocks the way out.
How to Beat Adamantoise
Exit the meteorite after the win.
Back to the Catapult
Board the airship and fly back to the Catapult next to Crescent. Approach the bridge to give Cid the Adamantite, watch the scenes, then exit to the overworld.
Pick a town with a free inn to rest at (Lix is the easy default since the inn there is free after the cutscenes). Then board the airship and press the action button. Choose the top arrow to Boost.
The next chapter picks up at the Ronka Ruins.
